HISTORY BUFFS

MONUMENT
Memorial marking the Jacobite cause and the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised the standard
04-Explore-03.jpg
CASTLE
TIORAM
Dramatic tidal castle built as the stronghold for the Lordship of the Isles in the 12th century. 45 minute drive through the scenic Sunart oakwoods.

Arguably Scotland’s most famous glen. Site of the historic massacre during the Jacobite rebellion. Stunning walks and views. Can be explored en route or when leaving Glenhurich.

BEACH LOVERS

04-Explore-05.jpg
ARDTOE
This sandy beach on the northside of  Kentra Bay in a local favourite. Ardtoe is great for rockpooling, swimming,  canoeing and bird watching.

SMIRISARY
For a more remote beach experience  head to the recently restored crofting village of Smirisary. The beach is known for its beauty, especially in spring and summer when the machair behind it blooms with wildflowers.

SANNA BAY
Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland, Sanna Bay sits at the western most point of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. 90 minute drive through incredible scenery, including an ancient caldera. A rewarding day out.

CORBETT BAGGERS

SGURR DHOMHNUILL
888m

The highest peak in the wild heart
of Ardgour, Sgurr Dhomhnuill is a steep-sided pyramid that offers typically challenging West Highland walking. Superb outlook spanning all the way from Rum to Ben Cruachan, Mull to Schiehallion.

GARBH-BHEINN
885m

Translates as, ‘rough hill’. Garbh Bheinn is just a few meters shy of a Munro classification, but is arguably all the better for it. Quieter than most Munros of similar quality and has a wilder, more remote feel.

ROIS-BHEINN
878m

Part of the Moidart Corbetts cluster including An Stac and Sgurr na Ba Glaise, Rois-Bheinn is a stunning hill with views out to the isles of Eigg, Rum, Skye and beyond.

BON VIVANTS

WHISKY
We are fortunate to have a number
of maverick distilleries in our area.
The independent organic, Nc’nean,
in Morvern and the Ardnamuchan  distillery, considered one of the remotest distilleries in Scotland.

SEAFOOD
The west coast of Scotland boasts some of the world’s best seafood. We are fortunate  to have our local fishmonger, Iain, drop into the village every Tuesday. Other great spots include: Loch Leven Seafood Cafe and if you’re heading to  Mull, the inimitable Boathouse on Ulva.

SAUNA
Saunas are popping up everywhere these days and luckily, the lovely folks at Arisaig Sauna have taken up residency at the top of Loch Shiel this season.

LITTLE EXPLORERS

TOBERMORY
Perhaps best known to wee ones by its alias, ‘Balamory,’ Tobermory makes for a great day out. Its colorful buildings and picturesque harbor are a  pleasure to explore. If time permits head to The Glass Barn, the home of Isle of Mull cheese and Island Biscuits.

Looking for an adrenaline-fuelled activity for the whole family? Look no further than Vertical Descents. Based in Fort William, their canyoning and Via Ferrata experiences are unforgettable!
